At Inspired Flowers there's nothing we love more than a fresh bouquet of flowers. We do everything possible to ensure your flowers arrive extra fresh but there's a few tips and tricks we've learnt along the way to keep them dazzling for longer. No old wives tails here just proven facts.
Just had some beautiful flowers delivered to you, now what?
Begin by finding the perfect home, keep your fresh flowers away from drafts and extreme temperatures, which can quickly dry out the flowers and cause wilting. If your flowers came in plastic cellophane or paper, remove this as soon as possible. Certainly within the first 48 hours of you having them in your home.
Avoid putting your arrangement near fruit or in the path of cigarette smoke. The ethylene gas is detrimental to many flower types.
Avoid placing flower arrangements in windowsills and other areas with full exposure to sunlight, and avoid near a fireplace, this will avoid the flowers wilting due to overheating. Most flowers will last much longer in cooler shaded conditions.
How to keep your flowers looking fresher for longer.
Keep your vase filled with clean water! All flower and foliage stems should be submerged. Flowers stay fresher for longer when they can get a drink when they need to. Always take off any leaves that will be submerged in the water, this keeps the water clean and free from bacteria. If your flowers came in a basket or other container with oasis foam, make sure to add fresh water every day to ensure optimum longevity and freshness, and so the oasis does not dry out.
Immediately remove any dead and/or wilting leaves and stems from your fresh flower arrangement. Over time this will help to keep your flowers as healthy and fresh as they can be.
Keep an eye on your flowers water. When it gets cloudy it’s time to change it out with fresh cold water. We do recommend you top the water up daily and change the water every other day.
Changing the water in your gorgeous floral arrangement
Firstly always wash your vase in soapy water and dry completely before putting your flowers into it. This prevents bacteria that could cause the fresh flowers to deteriorate even quicker. Do this each time you change the water in your vase.
Replace the water with fresh cold water and mix in the flower food provided by us, according to the instructions on the packet.
For the best results we recommend our customers, cut stems with a sharp knife or scissors at an angle about one to two inches from the bottom. This allows them to better absorb water over their lifetime.
Please Note These are our personal hints and tips for keeping your flowers at their best condition, this is not a guarantee. If for any reason you are not happy with the condition of your flowers on arrival, please contact our team, and we can help and advise on what to do.
